SUMMARY:Rotary Litter Pick with We Heart Seattle
DESCRIPTION:Join fellow Rotarians in supporting We Heart Seattle and cleaning up our beautiful city. Park at or near Seattle Elks Lodge\, 3014 3rd Ave. North. The litter is near the bridge and surrounding area. Please look for flaggers and wear layers\, rain gear as needed. Gloves and safety vest supplied. For more details and to sign up visit https://www.facebook.com/events/860107829175117?ref=newsfeed \nWe Heart Seattle is a boots on the ground\, grassroots community effort to promote effective use of city and privately funded resources to make Seattle beautiful and safe for all to enjoy. Cleaning up our parks and downtown is inevitably intertwined with homelessness\, drug addiction\, crime\, gridlocked politics and questionable policy. \nEveryone is welcome. Together we will cultivate a sense of community pride and ownership with a see\, say\, do culture. Seattle is everyone’s back yard to care for. This is a great opportunity to demonstrate Rotary’s commitment to community service above self and to improve the quality of life for people in our community and to serve the public interest. Please wear your Rotary gear with pride demonstrating Rotary in Action.

SUMMARY:Environmental Rotary Club of Puget Sound - Virtual Movie Night Screening of Honeyland
DESCRIPTION:The Environmental Rotary Club of Puget Sound is delighted to co-host a virtual movie night screening of the film Honeyland at 7 p.m. on October 20. We will partner with an organization close to our heart\, The Pollinator Partnership. Pollinator Partnership’s mission is to promote the health of pollinators\, critical to food and ecosystems\, through conservation\, education\, and research. The Environmental Rotary Club of Puget Sound is a bridge to connect and serve individuals\, communities\, and organizations who choose to work towards protecting Mother Earth and improving the environment locally and around the world. \nYou can support both of these worthy causes with a tax-deductible donation of $10 or more to get the link for the film. We make it really easy for you to donate more! \nHoneyland is a fascinating film that has won awards at the Sundance Film Festival in 2019 and it was nominated for the 2020 Oscars! It tells the story of a woman who utilizes ancient beekeeping traditions to cultivate honey in the mountains of North Macedonia. When a neighboring family tries to do the same\, it becomes a source of tension as they disregard her wisdom and advice. \nBuy your ticket now! \n

SUMMARY:District Business Meeting (Victoria Conference Center's Theatre - Hybrid Meeting)
DESCRIPTION:Official notification for District 5030’s business meeting.  We have a number of changes we are proposing and plan to hold this as a hybrid meeting to ensure that all clubs can participate regardless of them being present at the district conference or otherwise.  See our current agenda below. \nAny submissions to the agenda should be provided to our district secretary at susanna.southworth@gmail.com. \nCurrent Agenda \n\n Motion to change the approach for supporting and transitioning district sponsored projects – Jeff Borek to propose.\nMotion to make changes to COG and roles – Kae Peterson to propose.\nAny financial business matters to report – Rosemary Aragon to provide.\nUpdates to Section 5.1 of the District Bylaws and Appendix B – Cathy Gibson to propose.\n\nIn Section 5.1 of the District Bylaws\, change the name of the Public Relations Committee to Public Image Committee.\nIn Section 5.1 of the District Bylaws\, add the following three committees to the list of District Committees: District Peacebuilder Committee; District Environmental/Sustainability Committee; and the District Diversity\, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) Committee.\nUpdate Appendix B to include the district governors from 2018-2023.\n\n\nNew Rotary membership category: “Club Builder” – Cathy Gibson to propose.\nApproval sought for a resolution to be presented to the Rotary International Council on Legislation (COL). The proposed resolution recommends a new Rotary membership category: “Club Builder” This membership category would permit Rotarians active in chartering a new club to be “Active” members in the new club while not foregoing “Active” status in their home club. As “Active” members of the new club\, Rotarians with “Club Builder” membership status could serve as charter club officers\, serve on the Board of the new club and in all other ways support the new club – AND not have to resign from their home club. This resolution is motivated by the recent District 5030 experience.\nUpdate to the application for district project renewal for Music4Life as an Official Rotary District 5030 – David Endicott to propose.  This is an update to the application originally filed by Music4Life for renewal as an Official Rotary District 5030 Project for the coming three years in preparation for the District Conference originally scheduled for June 26th. The only changes to the application are the final numbers for the 2022-23 fiscal year\, which are now available in a detailed report supporting the application. The addition of two\, perhaps three\, new public school district Music4Life Chapters are in the works!\nUpdate to the Past Governor duties – Kae Peterson to propose.\nAny other business items.
