Happy New Year, Rotary Family! As we continue the District’s work in supporting clubs this year, a large focus will be on training, expanding leadership opportunities and communicating these strengths to attract and engage members. We are continuing our RISE (Rotarians Inspired to Succeed and Engage) leadership program. Applications and more details are found at https://district5030.org/rise/ . You will also see in-person and virtual training opportunities this year. Personally, I have benefited from expanding my global perspective through community service and growing my leadership skills through opportunities created by my numerous mentors in Rotary.

These groups exemplify our commitment to addressing critical global challenges through specialized expertise, passion, and dedication. Rotary Action Groups are global, grassroots networks of Rotary members, family members, and Rotaractors who are experts in a particular field. They collaborate with clubs and districts to enhance service projects, offering guidance, support, and valuable resources.

District 5030 recently held its Year-End Celebration, an event that brought together over 385 esteemed Rotarians, honored guests, and friends of Rotary for an evening of recognition, reflection, and inspiration. Master of Ceremonies Tim Leahy led the night’s proceedings with poise and enthusiasm, ensuring a memorable experience for all in attendance. The celebration began with a warm welcome from Leahy, who highlighted the night’s agenda: celebrating achievements, recognizing outstanding members, and listening to inspiring speeches.

The Rotary Club of West Seattle, supported by 11 other clubs, proudly organized a trip to the impoverished Mayan village of Esperanza Blanca Flor, one of 260 villages surrounding Barillas, located in the Northwestern Highlands region of Guatemala. Fourteen team members installed 106 locally manufactured “Aller” stoves, which significantly reduce respiratory disease in women and children while providing over 50% better wood-burning efficiency.
