Rotary Foundation Month: Honoring Generous Giving and Progress

Rachele Bouchand

Hello Rotary Family! November is Rotary Foundation month. District 5030 has already had a head start in supporting the Foundation by having two events in October. The most recent event was World Polio Day at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation Discovery Center . The fight against food insecurity has never been more urgent, with many of our neighbors grappling with hunger and economic challenges. But through unwavering dedication and collaborative spirit, we are making a meaningful difference, one meal at a time.

Urgent Care for a Global Humanitarian

Urgent Care for a Global Humanitarian

Penny LeGate

Perhaps no one lives our organization’s motto of “Service Above Self” more passionately than Son Michael Pham. A longtime member of Seattle’s University District Rotary Club, Son escaped Vietnam with just the shirt on his back during the fall of Saigon in 1975. As a refugee, he was immensely grateful for the support he got after his family resettled in the United States. Son never forgot. He funneled his gratitude into a life of serving others. His charitable organization, “Kids Without Borders” works in more than 30 countries.

Opening Doors: A Rotary Project to Empower Students with Disabilities

Heather Evans

Imagine a project where Rotary clubs open doors to employment for young adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Last year, the Bellevue Breakfast Club and the Rotary Club of Edmonds joined the Pacific Northwest Partners for Work Rotary Club in a groundbreaking initiative that did just that, empowering students to build personal portfolio websites—digital showcases of their skills, employability, and competence. With the success of this first round, we’re inviting Rotary members to consider bringing this project to even more students.
