2023-2024 Club District Grant Submissions

To: District 5030 Club Presidents

Subj: 2023-2024 Club District Grant Submissions

As we are starting a new year of 2023-24, our district clubs have the opportunity to submit matching grant requests for their projects.  This year, we will have just over $113,000 available to match grants.

Unlike global grants, which can be filed any time of the year, district grants’ requests will file with The Rotary Foundation all at one time and usually receive the funds in the November timeframe to start distributing to the approved club grants. To provide more time to clubs to finalize their matching grant proposal, this year we are extending the proposal submission date to end of day on September 25, 2023.

More information on grants, including training videos, program overviews, grant examples, grant proposal form, and policies can be found at District 5030 Grants Website

There are two major changes to our district grant program from the prior year (download a copy at  2023-24 DG Program Overview.pdf to see the new match amounts available and the criteria for a club receiving a 50% versus a 100% match):

  1. We have lowered the maximum amounts available so that we will (hopefully) have enough available to meet all grant submissions without having to rank and scale back the matches; and,
  2. Due to Covid and prior-year giving challenges that many clubs had, we have changed the parameters to meet a 100% versus 50% match from a look back at the average of the prior two years to just looking at 2022-2023 Annual Fund giving. In reviewing the results, many clubs benefited from the change and only one club was negatively impacted (we kept the one club at 100%).  I’ve attached a listing showing which category each club fits in.  Don’t hesitate to reach out if you have questions.

Finally, we always receive a number of questions that I would like to answer in advance:

  1. Can the project be local or international? Either, it is the club’s choice.
  2. Can a club submit more than one project? Yes, but it is highly unlikely that we will have funding for more than one grant per club.  If a club chooses to submit more than one proposal, it must prioritize its submissions.

Our district grand funding is made available only because of the contributions that our members gave to The Rotary Foundation’s Annual Fund three years prior.  Clubs have a great chance to put this funding to use to help support one of their most important service efforts. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to myself or our district grants co-chair, Cathy Burnell (catherineaburnell@icloud.com), if you have any questions.  Thanks.
