DG Rachele Bouchand: Share Your Story

Hello Rotary Family!

The theme for August is Membership and New Club Development. Membership is so important to our work! Rotary is a grassroots organization and our project ideas and innovation come from individual members, like you. We are not looking to grow for the sake of growing, but engaged members means we have the people power to make an impact through our projects and the donor base to fund grants through Global Grants and District Grants matching.

As I continue my club visits, my ask of you is to SHARE YOUR STORY. What brought you to Rotary and why do you stay? I came to Rotary because of a mentor who wanted me to expand my network and have a bigger impact in community service. Not only did I expand my professional and personal network, but I found that Rotary was leadership development organization where I could grow personally and professionally. Project management, navigating difficult conversations, public speaking and working with others with different backgrounds were a few of the skills that Rotary helped me develop. I’m able to do more BECAUSE of Rotary, not “in spite” of it.

I’m excited how we have more ways for people to expand their community service opportunities, sharpen their skills and meet in a way that fits into their lives. For example, Bellevue now has 5 Rotary Clubs. Each club meets at different times/day (from the Happiest Happy Hour at the Bellevue Eastside Club to Lunch at Bellevue Club to Breakfast). Each club has a different personality and focus. Amazingly, the five clubs raise the visibility of Rotary and give each the opportunity to attract and retain more members.

Thank you for sharing the Magic of Rotary with the community!
