District Leadership Gathering – Empowering the next Generation”

On Monday, February 9, more than 50 Rotary leaders gathered at the warm and welcoming Rotie Wine Tasting Room in SODO for our Mid-Year Leadership Gathering — and what an evening it was.

A mix of current and future club presidents and district governors mingled with current and future AGs, alongside an inspiring mix of RISE program graduates, and several PDGs. The room buzzed with conversation, laughter, and that unmistakable Rotary energy that reminds us why we do what we do.

Between sips of thoughtfully selected wines and visits to an absolutely stunning charcuterie table, leaders reconnected with longtime friends and forged new relationships. It was fellowship at its finest — relaxed, joyful, and deeply meaningful.

But beyond the camaraderie, the evening also reflected who we are as Rotary: people of action who unite for good. Attendees heard concise and energizing updates from several District 5030 leaders and committees, highlighting the work already underway this year and the many opportunities ahead. The message was clear — our district is strong, collaborative, and building for the future.

Perhaps most inspiring was seeing the full leadership continuum in one room — those currently serving, those preparing to step forward, and those who have paved the way. It was a visible reminder that leadership in Rotary is not a moment, but a journey we share together.

My thanks to our speakers who covered the importance of a “growth mindset” for each club, the latest on the district conference this April, the importance of The Rotary Foundation and our local and international district grant teams, the PI committee, and the flood relief initiative. Special thanks to my Chief of Staff Martha Sidlow who led the effort to pull all the details together to make it a special night.

If you want to find out more about leadership opportunities at the district level, please let me know.
