On May 30, the Rotary Club PNW Ending Sex Trafficking, featured in this month’s Rotary Magazine, is taking a first step in bringing to our area an ambitious assault on the myths that perpetuate sex trafficking. The campaign, entitled The Ugly Truth Campaign, was pioneered by the Sacramento Rotary Club in 2018. The campaign consists of billboard and public transportation advertising. Each ad states a myth about commercial sexual exploitation followed by the ugly truth.
For example, Myth: It’s the world’s oldest profession–The Ugly Truth–It’s a dangerous form of exploitation.
Our Club’s partner, Voices and Faces, will be presenting an overview of the campaign on May 30 from 10:00-12:00. Voices and Faces developed the campaign with Sacramento Rotary and has run it in five or more other metropolitan areas. The forum’s goal is to rally support for such a campaign in the greater Seattle/King County area to coincide with the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
