We held our first business district meeting within three years at the District Conference in Victoria on the 14th October. This business meeting was also a first in that it was a hybrid meeting that allowed us to include club representatives who were unable to attend the conference. The hybrid approach was a success as we bought together all our representatives to discuss and vote on a full agenda.
At the meeting the following items were discussed and passed by the clubs:
- We will implementing a new approach to support our district projects. The effort to amend our bylaws will be driven by a task force that will be led by our district secretary (Susanna Southworth) with the goal that the proposed changes will be presented at the next District Business Meeting. By evolving our 5030 District Projects guidance, we can increase leverage, visibility and scale for our clubs’ projects and their beneficiaries. We propose to implement three tiers for managing the district project lifecycle from emerging club projects, to district projects, and, finally, graduating to the district marketplace for wider visibility and sustainability.
- The motion to change our Council of Governors and their roles was passed.
- Rosemary Aragon provide a quick financial update on the District and informed those present that our financial affairs were in good order.
- Updates to Section 5.1 of the District Bylaws and Appendix B – we passed and included the following changes:
- In Section 5.1 of the District Bylaws, change the name of the Public Relations Committee to Public Image Committee.
