International Day of Peace

Celebrating one of our Seven Areas of Focus

Rotary Clubs can honor Peace (one of our seven areas of focus) by celebrating International Day of Peace on September 21st. This year’s theme from the United Nations is “Actions for peace: Our ambition for the #GlobalGoals.” Honoring Peace Day can be as simple as planting a Peace Pole in your town and/or having a Day of Peace declared by your local government.

In 2014, Rotary International and the Peace Corps joined forces in a global partnership to promote development and volunteer service. We collaborate to support community projects and offer training, education, and education.

Both Rotary International and Peace Corps are committed to improving lives and building stronger communities by addressing the root causes of violence and conflict, such as poverty, illiteracy, disease, and lack of access to clean water and sanitation. By working together, Rotary members along with Returned Peace Corps Volunteers enhance goodwill and international understanding.

Partnering for Peace is the volunteer organization working to facilitate joint Rotary and Peace Corps service opportunities through networking, technical support, and fellowship. They are looking for any Rotarians with Peace Corps connections. Returned Peace Corps Volunteers, Outgoing Peace Corps Volunteers, and Peace
