Public Image Update: New Year, New Energy, Shared Vision

As we step into a new year, the District 5030 Public Image Committee is excited to share a few important updates and extend heartfelt appreciation to those who continue to elevate Rotary’s story across our district.

I’m honored to step into the role of District 5030 Public Image Chair, and I look forward to working alongside clubs, leaders, and volunteers to strengthen how we tell Rotary’s story and showcase our collective impact. To reach me directly, please send communications to pic@district5030.org. The publicimage@district5030.org email will continue to work as well for general information and submission for events and news articles.

A very special thank you and kudos to Chris Nakea, who has led the Public Image Committee with dedication, creativity, and heart. While Chris is stepping down as Chair, he remains deeply involved with the committee and continues his incredible Rotary service through ADRAG, the Vashon Island Rotary Club, Hunger Strike initiatives, and the launch of an exciting new networking club, Rotary Means Business Northwest. Chris, thank you for your leadership, vision, and continued support—you have built a strong foundation that we are proud to carry forward.

Looking ahead, the Public Image Committee is actively developing a 3-year strategic plan designed to strengthen district-wide visibility, consistency, and storytelling. We are now preparing to implement Year 1 of this plan—and this is where you come in. We are seeking Rotarians who are interested in joining the committee or participating in focused subcommittees to help bring this vision to life. Whether your strengths are communications, branding, social media, photography, websites, or storytelling, there is a place for you.

The new year brings fresh momentum, new ideas, and powerful opportunities to amplify Rotary’s impact. If you’re ready to help shape how Rotary District 5030 is seen, heard, and celebrated—we’d love to have you join us.

Here’s to a vibrant, visible, and inspiring year ahead for Rotary!

Stacie Thorlakson, D5030 Public Image Chair
