Our dynamic Rotary District 5030 Environmental Sustainability Committee is inviting Rotarians to participate in a hands on service project to help restore the Duwamish River. This will happen on Saturday, April 19, from 9 am to 1 pm.
Our work will include removing invasive species and planting indigenous trees and shrubbery. This is a District-wide project and we need 40 Rotarians and/or family and friends to join us.
We will meet at 9 am and will have George Blumberg, historian with the Port of Seattle, share about the major cleanup being coordinated by the EPA as a Superfund site. We will also have someone from the Duwamish Nation share about the native history going back 10,000 years in connection with the Duwamish River.
There will be coffee and donuts in the morning followed by a vegetarian lunch around 12:30.
Please let Dave Spicer know if you are interested. Contact dspicer@davespicerlaw.com
Only need to bring boots appropriate for working in the mud and working gloves plus a water bottle. Tools and porto potty provided on site.
