On Saturday, September 13, West Seattle Rotarians and local Scouts will glean fruit from privately owned fruit trees and transport the harvest to local food banks. Working in partnership with City Fruit and both the West Seattle and White Center Food Banks, the Rotary Club of West Seattle is encouraging homeowners with fruit trees–particularly apples, pears, plums, and quince–to offer extra produce from their tree to neighbors in need. To volunteer a tree in or around West Seattle, complete the Gleaning Interest Form at https://forms.gle/Mbp8r5v6kveJtFaX7 by Aug. 23. Questions? E-mail ws_rotary@yahoo.com [Note: Rotarians interested in coordinating community gleaning in other areas can contact City Fruit for information (www.cityfruit.org).]
