The Rotary Club of Edmonds recently partnered with the Seattle Furniture Repair Bank for a hands‑on service work party, the kind of project that blends community impact, sustainability, and good old‑fashioned teamwork.
The Furniture Repair Bank is a nonprofit with a powerful mission: revive unwanted furniture and provide it to families in need, reducing waste, supporting climate goals, and strengthening local communities. That alignment with Rotary values made this collaboration a natural fit.
Our club brought a team of 13 enthusiastic Edmonds Rotarians, ready to get to work. After a quick orientation, volunteers split into five groups and tackled a variety of tasks: painting, staining, sanding, cleaning, and removing upholstery staples from chairs. A couple of hours later, we had restored a lineup of furniture pieces and had a great time doing it.
To close out the morning, we gathered for a group photo and presented Lucy from the Furniture Repair Bank with a $1,000 check to support their ongoing mission.
It was a meaningful day of service, sustainability, and fellowship, exactly what the Rotary Club of Edmonds is all about.
