Disease Prevention and Treatment is one of Rotary’s causes. This cause aligns well with the mission of the WSU College of Medicine. A primary goal of the College is to address challenging health care environments with a focus on rural communities, Tribal Nations, and people who have been historically marginalized. Our shared goal is to endow and maintain a Rotary Scholarship Fund to assist the College’s students.
Fundraising for the Rotary Scholarship in Medicine began in 2021 with the first scholarship awarded to Britta Bunnel of the class of 2025. Information about the program including recipients can be found at https://www.bellevuesunriserotary.org/rotary-scholarship/ .
In January 2025 the goal of raising $100,000 for the scholarship endowment was achieved. This endowed fund provides four 4-year scholarships of $1000 indefinitely, and the number of scholarships will increase as the endowment grows.
