Hunger Strike Fundraising Event: Knock Down Pins, Lift Up Lives
The hunger statistics are sobering: 1 in 11 people in the state of Washington face hunger, and for children, that number is even more alarming at 1 in 8. The COVID-19 pandemic has only exacerbated food insecurity, making the need for action more urgent than ever.
Why Hunger Strike? Unite for a cause that feeds the soul! Hunger Strike is an impactful fundraising initiative brought to you by a collaboration between Harvest Against Hunger, Rotary, and the Our Mayberry fundraising platform. The event is focused on combating this pressing issue by raising essential funds for both Harvest Against Hunger and local hunger relief programs throughout Washington State.
Last Year’s Impact: In its pilot year, Hunger Strike generated enough resources to deliver a staggering 4 million servings of nutritious food to families in need.
Team Up & Compete: Functioning as a team fundraising competition, Hunger Strike allows Rotary members and community allies to form online teams. With your own donation page, you can gather contributions from friends and family. The ultimate goal? To climb to the top of the fundraising leaderboard!
Strikes for Charity: The competition reaches its zenith with an optional bowling event where participants can gain additional donations. For every pin knocked down, sponsors can pledge a certain amount, contributing to the cause. Bowling is just a fun social element; participation in it is entirely optional.
Prizes & Incentives: For those who raise at least $150, a prize drawing awaits. The more you raise, the more chances you have to win. Clubs will also be recognized for achievements such as community engagement, promotional spirit, and the amount of money raised.
Be a Team Captain: Anyone can lead a team. Create your own team of chosen members or leave the team open for public participation. Rally support easily through a “Share” button on your donation page that allows for easy sharing via social media or QR codes.
Donor Flexibility: Donors can either make a straightforward donation, sponsor a bowler based on the number of pins knocked down, or both.
Leaderboard: Follow the competition live through club-specific and overall leaderboards, keeping track of all the participating clubs.
Fund Allocation: 50% of all donations go directly to Harvest Against Hunger, while the remaining 50% supports a local hunger relief program chosen by the participating clubs.
