Membership Moment – Chamber of Connection Club Fair

Rotary was alive and active, sharing the great works our Rotary clubs are doing for our community and the great benefits membership provides for each member. On Thursday March 5th the Seattle Chapter of the US Chamber of Connection, yes the Chamber of Connection, not the Chamber of Commerce, hosted a Club Fair, much like the Career Fairs we remember attending when we were in school or those tenuous years shortly thereafter. This fair, however, was full of energy and a buzz of interest to start relationships, build connections, and do some fun things with new people.
The Club Fair was sponsored by the National Nordic Museum in Ballard. Over 30 clubs were present and participating and over 200 people walked through the Fair, asking questions and forming new relationships. It was a sight to see. Our hat tips to the leadership of the Chamber of Connection leadership team, Charlotte Massey, Executive Director, and Brianna Canning, Program Manager, for organizing this event and pulling it off seamlessly. And Rotary was there to capture this moment with enthusiasm.
Several Rotary Clubs jumped on the opportunity to showcase their club in this welcoming environment. The fair was hosted in Ballard, so The Rotary Club of Ballard organized a station and met so many wonderful new people. Many people present at the fair lived in Ballard, so they were excited to learn about the great things The Rotary Club of Ballard is doing for the Ballard neighborhood. University District Rotary Club and Seattle 4 Rotary had wonderful booths and met lots of amazing new people. And The University Sunrise Rotary Club gets credit for leading the way with club fair best practices which other clubs will learn and benefit from for future fairs. All the rotary clubs had information to share and ample enthusiasm to show their passion for the great work they’re doing in their communities. But the University Sunrise Rotary Club offered a sign-up sheet for people to provide their contact information – so the University Sunrise can keep them informed proactively. And someone in the University Sunrise Rotary Club can bake! The University Sunrise Rotary Club had a plate of home-baked cookies for anyone interested in learning more about their incredible club. They were reported to be chocolate chip cookies, with a twist – and they did not last long!
By the end of the evening, people in Seattle learned more about the great benefits of Rotary and the Rotary Clubs present build stronger bonds with each other, and the winner of all of the effort that went into this incredible event is the area we call home – Rotary District 5030 – and the people we serve.
