Celebrating a District 5030 Hero: William “Bill” MacCully

For over three decades, Rotary has benefited from the steady leadership and quiet dedication of Bill MacCully, who was a founding member of the Shoreline Club in 1995. He has served as their club President twice, guided other clubs in the area as an Assistant Governor, and he and his wife Judy have helped their community and District 5030 in many, many ways.

Over the last five plus years Bill has led the District Visioning Team, which provides a half day workshop to clubs who need to update their multi-year plans and develop a “Growth Mindset” to innovate and thrive. Through multiple district leadership transitions, Bill has remained a constant—helping clubs clarify their goals, align around a shared vision, and build actionable plans for long-term success.

Under his leadership, the Visioning process has become one of the district’s most impactful tools. Clubs that engage in Visioning consistently report stronger member engagement, clearer priorities, and greater momentum in service. Bill’s ability to facilitate meaningful conversations and turn ideas into practical strategies has helped shape the direction of countless clubs across the district.

Bill would be the first to tell you that good Visioning is a team sport. Kudos to his team colleagues Danielle Pratt (Mill Creek), Alan Fulp Bellevue), and their newest addition PDG Alan Merry (Lake Forest Park). When was the last time your club held a Visioning session? If it’s been awhile your club should sign up for one soon.

District 5030 continues to offer a wide range of support to clubs, including Visioning facilitation, RISE leadership training, membership development resources, Foundation guidance, public image support, and youth program coordination. These efforts are powered by dedicated volunteers—and as our district moves back toward growth, so does the need for more Rotarians to step forward and serve at the district level.

If you’ve ever benefited from district support, consider being part of the team that makes it possible. Your experience and perspective can help strengthen clubs across District 5030.
