Council of Governors Luncheon

The half yearly luncheon event in the Rotary year, where 5030’s past, current and future governors gather to hear an update from the DG and DGE. This year DG Kaj Pedersen outlined a comprehensive three-year plan with strategic initiatives across various domains. Here’s a breakdown and summary of the key points:

  1. Expanding Brand Presence:
    • Launched website and newsletter.
    • Increased engagement on LinkedIn and other social media platforms.
    • Established an omni-channel approach for brand amplification.
    • Conducted “Harvest Against Hunger” campaign, raising $47,000.
    • Continued with the “End Polio Now” campaign at Bill and Malinda Gates Foundation with wide coverage.
  2. Engaging the Community:
    • Organized the District Conference in Victoria with 315 participants.
    • Encouraged local clubs to engage in service projects post-pandemic with good success.
    • Continued our leadership in global grants with 14 TRF-funded projects and a 98% reporting compliance.
    • Introduced “Philanthropy in a Box” initiative celebrating local businesses and RISE graduates.
    • Launched Foundation awareness programs to support EREY (Seed), Paul Harris Fellowship match and Awaken Society for HNW donor recognition.
  3. Growing Membership:
    • Established a big club task force to address challenges for membership engagement.
    • Initiatives to launch new clubs, including Eastside Action and South King County.
    • Responded to membership referrals from RI with improved engagement.
    • Focused on youth engagement and actively working on it.
  4. Embracing Vocational Legacy:
    • Launched the RISE leadership program, with a second cohort planned.
    • Engaged business partners and continued efforts in this direction.
    • Conducted Philanthropy in a Box events leveraging business sponsors.
    • Launching a new business network across the district for better engagement and support.
  5. Transforming by Innovating:
    • Introduced new capabilities in web services for article and event submissions.
    • Integrated disparate websites into one presence.
    • Submitted a Council of Legislation proposal for the Club Builder concept.
    • Shifting district projects to be driven by clubs for service innovation.
    • Expanded the hybrid concept to the district conference.

Overall, our plan reflects a holistic approach covering brand expansion, community engagement, membership growth, vocational legacy, and innovative transformations. Regular tracking and adjustments will be undertaken to overcome challenges, ensuring a dynamic response to the evolving landscape. The focus on technology integration and contemporary approaches allows us to remain adaptive and forward-thinking in our strategy.

DGE Rachele Bouchand provided an update on the Rotary theme and International Assembly, and she also expanded on how this will be tied to the three year strategic initiative in 5030 as she leads us through the second year of its execution. More details can be found here.
