As this Rotary year draws to a close, District Governor Rachele Bouchand reflects on a term filled with passion, purpose, and powerful storytelling. With a vision focused on expanding Rotary’s reach to young professionals, DG Rachele encouraged members to share their personal journeys—the “why” behind their Rotary story. “Rotary is full of magic—but our members are the real magic,” said Rachele. “When we share our stories, we connect on a deeper level. We inspire action. We build community.” Living the Magic of Rotary This year’s Rotary theme— The Magic of Rotary —was more than a motto.

As we close out the 2024–2025 Rotary year, we offer heartfelt thanks to District Governor Rachele Bouchand and the club presidents who have guided us with clarity, collaboration, and compassion. In July 2024, dozens of gunshots pierced the quiet Seattle night. Sex traffickers jockeying for turf fired 30 shots on Aurora Avenue North, two blocks from journalist Erin Gartner’s house. Amid a surge of violence crashing over the neighborhood, Gartner felt hopeless — until she found a group of neighborhood volunteers and experts in the problem of trafficking, all of them part of a Rotary club dedicated to the issue. Bellevue Eastside Rotarians Travel to Africa to Support Community Schools Rotary District 5030 recently made international headlines with a heartwarming feature in the Times of Zambia , showcasing the compassionate work of the Rotary Club of Bellevue Eastside. Their service trip to Zambia, in partnership with the Rotary Club of Lusaka Metro (District 9210), brought critical educational support to six underserved community schools in Lusaka and Livingstone. The May 22nd feature article in Zambia’s national newspaper celebrated Rotary’s global impact, calling special attention to the emotional and practical importance of the donations made by the Bellevue Eastside team.

On May 15th, the Kent Community Foundation and its partners hosted their annual Scholarship Awards Celebration at Kent Covenant Church—an inspiring evening of recognition, gratitude, and hope for the future. The event brought together over 150 community members, families, and educators to honor 37 deserving students from the Kent School District and recent graduates. The Rotary Club of Kent played a leading role in this year’s event, contributing $46,000 of the $131,000 total in scholarships awarded. Through a shared commitment to service and education, Kent Rotary continues to empower the next generation of leaders and changemakers.

As part of its mission to enhance youth and education in South Snohomish County, Lynnwood Rotary proudly sponsors the CTE Student of the Month program —an initiative that recognizes outstanding high school students enrolled in Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathways throughout the district. CTE Pathways, offered at every district high school, are designed to prepare students to be both college and career ready. These programs provide hands-on, real-world learning experiences and allow students to explore their interests and passions, discover a wide range of career opportunities, and earn college credit.

On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Rotary Club of Kent and Kent Sunrise Rotary came together to support the annual Kent Parks Fishing Experience at The Old Fishing Hole in Kent, Washington. Over 120 children, ages 4 to 14, participated in the event—many catching their first fish and learning valuable lessons in water safety and environmental stewardship. This long-standing tradition, hosted in partnership with the City of Kent Parks Department, is completely free for participating families.
