📚 Wrapping Up September: Education Opens Door

As September comes to a close, Shoreline Rotary is wrapping up a month of stories celebrating Rotary’s focus on Basic Education and Literacy.

Throughout the month, we explored what education can make possible—from supporting local students to helping provide educational opportunities thousands of miles away.

Here’s a look back at the stories we shared:

🎓 Opening Doors to Education: The Harley & Michele O’Neil Student Scholarship
We introduced the Harley & Michele O’Neil Student Scholarship, which provides financial assistance to students attending Shoreline College and helps with practical costs such as tuition, books, materials and transportation.

🎓 Investing in Local Students: Shoreline Rotary Scholarships Help Open Doors
We highlighted Shoreline Rotary’s scholarship program and our investment in graduating seniors from Shorewood High School and King’s Schools, including the story of Hugh Hoff, a Shorewood graduate now attending the University of Washington.

🌎 From Shoreline to Honduras: Rotary Invests in the Power of Education
We traveled thousands of miles with our story about Big Dreamers School in Honduras, where Shoreline Rotary has supported classroom construction and is now helping the school move toward solar power. The story showed how reliable electricity can help teachers and students make greater use of technology and educational resources.

💻 Education Without Borders: Opening Doors at FloreSer Girls Home
We shared the story of Shoreline Rotary’s partnership with FloreSer Girls Home in Mazatlán, Mexico, including the computer lab, sports court and English-language scholarships that are helping young women build skills and expand future educational and career opportunities.

🌟 Investing in the Next Generation: One Scholarship, One Student, A Brighter Future
We closed the month with a deeply personal story from a Shoreline Rotary scholarship recipient who is pursuing a career in healthcare. The student’s story reminded us that a scholarship can provide more than financial assistance—it can provide encouragement, hope and the confidence to keep moving forward.

Education creates opportunity.

These stories may be different, but they share a common thread: when we invest in education, we invest in people and in the future of our communities.

Thank you to the students, families, educators, community partners, donors and Rotarians who help make these opportunities possible.

And thank you for following along with us during September.

📖 All of these stories can be read on the Shoreline Rotary website home page. Take a look back, learn more about the work your local Rotary club is doing, and discover how education is helping us Create Lasting Impact locally and around the world.
