Lake Union Rotary Club Honors Beloved Members with Sailboat Dedication

The Lake Union Rotary Club (LURC) gathered last week at the Center for Wooden Boats (CWB) on Lake Union to pay tribute to two cherished members who recently passed away.

Tom Youngs and Tom Lemly, both devoted Lake Union Rotary members and long-time boat owners, were honored in a special ceremony. In their memory, one of the CWB’s El Toro sailboats used for rental and training young people  was named “TOM TOM”,  a heartfelt tribute to their shared passion for boating and their lasting impact on the club.  Lake Union Rotary meets at the CWB on Friday mornings at 7:30am, and hosts the popular Happy Hour 4 Good on the CWB dock on the third Thursday evenings during the summer.

Tom Youngs was a cornerstone of Lake Unioin Rotary,  known for his unwavering dedication and enthusiasm for the club’s mission. His contributions extended far beyond his years of active participation—Tom was a mentor, a friend, and an inspiration to many. His love of boating and his vibrant spirit made him a treasured member of Lake Union Rotary.

Tom Lemly, a more recent member of the club, quickly became a favorite for his warm greetings and sharp wit. Despite his shorter tenure, he left a significant impression on everyone who met him, endearing himself to members with his kind heart and good humor.

This touching dedication reflects the enduring legacy of these two remarkable individuals and the deep affection in which they were held by the Lake Union Rotary community.
