What’s Happening with the University District Rotary Club Membership Engagement?

The Membership Committee of the University District Rotary Club has been hard at work strengthening connections, deepening engagement, and ensuring that every member feels welcomed, valued, and inspired.

Mentorship: A Stronger Start for New Members

One of our most exciting initiatives is the addition of a dedicated Membership Committee mentor for each new member. This personalized approach ensures that no one feels alone when joining our Rotary family.

What does mentorship mean? It means:

  1. Guidance and Support – Helping new members navigate meetings, projects, and club traditions.
  2. Connection and Engagement – Introducing them to fellow Rotarians and encouraging participation in activities.
  3. Inspiration and Growth – Sharing the heart of Rotary’s mission and helping them discover how they can make an impact.

In addition, each new member receives a six-month engagement checklist, a thoughtfully prepared list of activities designed to help them get to know other members and become involved early. From attending events to participating in service projects, it’s a great way to build relationships and feel connected from the start.

Listening and Improving: Our Bi-Annual Membership Survey

We conduct our bi-annual membership survey to hear directly from our members. There feedback helps guide our continual process improvement efforts to retain members and design programs that meet the evolving needs and interests of our club.

By listening intentionally and acting thoughtfully, we ensure that our club continues to thrive, remains vibrant, relevant, and responsive.

Engaging Through Our Family of Rotary

We believe Rotary is more than meetings — it’s a community. Through our “Family of Rotary” approach, we are intentionally engaging current members by:

  • Reaching out to those in need, offering support during life’s challenges.
  • Celebrating together, recognizing milestones, achievements, and special moments.
  • Creating fellowship opportunities that bring us closer.

Fun, Fellowship, and Food

To strengthen connections beyond formal meetings, we are hosting:

  • Foodie Nights
  • Coffee Hours
  • Happy Hours

These relaxed, social gatherings give members a chance to build friendships, share stories, and simply enjoy each other’s company.

Service Projects: The Heart of Engagement

Service remains at the core of everything we do. Participating in service projects is one of the most meaningful ways members stay engaged. Working side by side to make a difference builds camaraderie and reminds us why we joined Rotary in the first place.

Our Motto: Have FUN and Do Good!

Our Membership Committee believes that when members are engaged, supported, and connected, they thrive — and so does our club. By combining mentorship, feedback, fellowship, service, and celebration, we are creating an environment where members don’t just join Rotary — they belong.

Together, we continue to live our motto:

Have FUN and Do Good!
