In Fall 2025, Rotary Club of West Seattle became a proud sponsor of an Interact Club at West Seattle High School. It got started by a student that our club sponsored for RYLA 2025. He visited our club after his RYLA experience to speak at our meeting about the leadership weekend and the impact it had on him. Since then, he has gone back to his high school and recruited 7 more students to form an Interact Club. Our youth committee under leadership of Chair Huiting Liu has been very engaged with the club as it developed, and on March 3 of this year, our Interact liaison, Kenny Austin, presented their official club charter to two representatives (one the original RYLA student) during our weekly West Seattle Rotary Club meeting. The group has already fund-raised and contributed to the local food bank and are planning for two service projects a year; one that benefits the community and one that encourages international understanding. They participated on our street cleanup, and one member will join our team’s international project traveling to a village in Guatemala in May where they will work to improve water access and sanitation. We are so pleased to support these young people who’ve embraced the Rotary mission and can carry on next generations toward membership and service.
