Challenge Race

June 20 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Rotary Club of Lynnwood Challenge Race

The Rotary Club of Lynnwood is proud to host the 10th Annual Challenge Race on Saturday, June 20, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Lynnwood Elementary School. This free community event provides children with developmental disabilities the opportunity to experience the thrill of racing while welcoming participants of all abilities and their families.

The Challenge Series Race features specially designed two-person derby cars that pair each child racer with a trained student driver. Together, they race down the course, creating an exciting and memorable experience for participants. The event is designed to promote inclusion, build confidence, and provide opportunities for children to actively participate in a sporting event.

In addition to the races, families can enjoy a variety of activities and entertainment, including face painting, a bounce house, balloon twisting, free event T-shirts, a complimentary Chick-fil-A lunch, appearances by Webbly and Driip, the Kool Kids ice cream truck, a fire truck, Community Transit’s new electric bus, a tow truck to explore, and other family-friendly attractions.

The event is co-sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lynnwood, the City of Lynnwood, Edmonds School District, and Life Enrichment Options (LEO), a nonprofit organization that supports individuals with developmental disabilities through housing, recreation, employment opportunities, and community education.

The custom derby cars were designed by Leo Finnegan, whose inspiration came from his own son’s love of racing. Today, the Challenge Series Race continues to bring joy, excitement, and lasting memories to children and families throughout the community.
