February is Peace and Conflict Resolution Month

Promoting peace is one of Rotary’s seven areas of focus, and February is the month when Rotary shines its spotlight on peacebuilding and conflict resolution initiatives.  As a recognized Peacebuilder District, the District Peacebuilder Committee, the District DEI Committee and the Peacebuilder Committees at West Seattle Rotary and Seattle #4 are teaming up for a special presentation followed by a book discussion with BJ Cummings, the author of The River That Made Seattle.

Join Rotarians from around the District on Tuesday, February 13th at the West Seattle Golf Course for lunch and fellowship before delving into the legacy and complicated history of this vital waterway for Indigenous people and settlers. A $25 buffet lunch starts at 12 noon; the club meeting & author presentation starts at 12:30PM; and the book discussion begins at 1:30PM for those who would like to discuss the book further.

Even if you haven’t read the book, come and learn about the river’s history, conflicts and future promise.
