Partner With Us to Create a Safer Place for Survivors
District 5030 Rotary clubs are invited to join a 2026–27 District Grant project supporting REST’s Seattle shelter for survivors of sex trafficking. Partner-club contributions of $300–$500 can help make this important safety project possible.
For someone leaving sex trafficking, a safe place to stay is more than shelter. It is a place to begin healing, regain stability, and take the next steps toward a new future.
The Rotary Club of Pacific NW Ending Sex Trafficking is leading a proposed District 5030 grant project to upgrade the security system at REST’s Seattle shelter. REST provides temporary shelter and wraparound services to survivors of sex trafficking, including mental health support, substance-use counseling, and job-readiness training.
Today, the shelter’s alarm system relies on Bluetooth connectivity and has experienced signal and connection failures. At the same time, REST has seen an increase in individuals connected to trafficking approaching the shelter and attempting to contact survivors.
The proposed project would replace that system with a reliable, hardwired security solution providing 24-hour surveillance and 30 days of replay capability. The goal is straightforward: give survivors and the people who serve them a safer, more secure environment.
A Small Partnership With Lasting Impact
Approximately 96 survivors stay at REST’s 12-room shelter each year. With the staff and volunteers who keep the shelter operating around the clock, the project is expected to benefit approximately 136 people annually.
And this is an investment built to last. REST estimates the hardwired system will have a typical lifespan of about 10 years.
Our club is seeking fellow District 5030 Rotary clubs to become project partners with contributions of $300 to $500.
At that level, several clubs working together can make a meaningful difference. Your partnership will help us leverage the power of Rotary’s District Grant program while demonstrating something Rotary does especially well: clubs joining forces to address a community need that is bigger than any one club.
Partner clubs will also be part of the Rotary story surrounding the project. The proposal includes Rotarian involvement through project oversight, communication with REST, expense tracking, site visits, and a ribbon-cutting recognition event. Because this project serves survivors of human trafficking, their privacy will be protected, and public photos and recognition will focus on the facility rather than beneficiaries.
