West Seattle SUMMERFEST Booth Attracts Rotary Enthusiasts

The Rotary Club of West Seattle staffed a booth all 3 days (July 10-12) of  SUMMERFEST street fair along California Ave. We had the good fortune that our booth location was on the end at California and Edmonds which was actually the entrance and exit for most attendees.

We spoke with an extraordinary number of people, most local but many from out of state or outside the US, who expressed great appreciation for the quality and scope of our community and international projects.  We heard from potential members, a mom who told us that she had been Student of the Month in Port Orchard, a couple of young adults who had been beneficiaries of our Christmas Shopping Spree at Sears, Rotarians from other Clubs, new WS residents who knew little about our community action, prospective speakers, and descendants of Rotarians.  We can’t help but be so encouraged by the generous accolades and respect for the work.

We followed that weekend with the Grand Parade the following Saturday July 18 which the Rotary Club of West Seattle sponsors and organizes every year.  We marched with banners, many that endorsed sponsors, and we led the parade right behind the color guard.  What a great turnout and so much fun for the whole community! Participation was at it’s peak with marching bands, cheer squads, sports groups, dance troupes, many local clubs and characters that included the Seafair Pirates and Clowns.

Summer’s been in full swing in West Seattle.
